Your Pet Doctor

Many pet owners will tell you that getting a pet has changed
their life. There is something astounding in the
unconditional love that exists between a pet and the owner
and it can have positive mental benefits for all sorts of
people.
Loving and playing with a pet just makes us feel better.
After a tiring day in the office, we feel better to love
our pets and may be by playing with them. A cat as a pet
can be very relaxing, as its presence nearby makes us feel
better and peaceful. Try it! Sit at a place near a sleeping
pet cat and you will feel your worries gradually
evaporating.
Having a pet does give life a little routine and relief
from mental tiredness from a hard day's work. Life does
seem a little bit structured and loving a pet something to
look forward to each day.
Physical benefit also accrues to the pet owner. When you
take your pet dog for a stroll, you are actually doing some
physical exercise and getting fresh air your lungs so
direly require. And doing any exercise could help you in
avoiding heart disease, diabetes and other diseases. You
also feel healthy, fit and stay slim.
Many studies and researches have been conducted to seek the
validity of pet owners' assertion that pets are good for
them. The result of one such research was that pet owners
who have had first heart attack lived a longer life than
those who didn't have a pet. The research did not prove it
conclusively that pets actually prolong life of unhealthy
people, but it might be so.
Pets are also said to lower blood pressure and cholesterol.
One research stressed that children are less stressed when
visiting a doctor if a dog or cat was present. Even
hard-boiled professionals like stockbrokers, a study
showed, would be less stressed if they had their pet in
their office.
There are also some skills that dogs have to improve human
health that are almost unbelievable. For example, scientists
have found that dogs can sense when a human is about to have
a seizure, long before the human realizes it. Therefore
people who are prone to seizures can get up to three quarters
of an hour early warning from a trained dog.
And dogs can detect cancer. Though still in the early
research stages, it seems that dogs can tell the difference
between a skin blemish that is cancerous and one that is not
using their acute sense of smell. It's also possible that
dogs could detect bladder cancers from the smell of human
urine...
Anyone who is thinking about getting a pet may well find
that they gain so much more from their new pet than they
ever expected. For one thing they will probably join the
majority of pet owners who happily say that their pets help
keep them sane.
